Card of the Week: The Sun
“O, sunshine! The most precious gold to be found on this Earth.” - Roman Payne

You've heard the saying, “there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.” That is a great way to see the Sun card in Tarot. And what is that tunnel, you ask? The energy from the previous card, the Moon. The Sun card refers to seeing something more clearly because a light is being shined on it. Instead of keeping matters in the dark - which can create confusion and illusions - you are bringing them out in front of the sun. Since the sun brings life to all living things and we cannot survive long without it, you can see the Sun card as life being brought back into your world. This could be regarding love, passions, health, etc. This card speaks to vitality, strength, and wish fulfillment. The Moon card embodies feminine energy while the Sun card embodies the masculine energy. And it’s important to note that we cannot have one without the other. If we had no darkness, how would we appreciate the light?
In the Rider-Waite Tarot deck, the Sun card illustration features a baby on a white horse that speaks to new beginnings. It also represents victory, success and pregnancy! So be aware if those aren’t events you’re planning for and this card flies out. There is a face on the sun, which represents you being watched over and guided along your journey by entities you cannot see.
Upright
Past: Your past energy was very optimistic and jolly regarding your future endeavors. This could have been due to you receiving some of your wishes and desires. This could also be because you got clarity on something that was keeping you in the dumps for a while. The Sun card in this position speaks to recent success and the high you feel after. This is you feeling like a million bucks. Also, your love life could have been on the passionate and spicy side in the recent past. Moving forward, store some of this light within you so you can spread love and positivity to others and to yourself when you are feeling down.
Present: The Sun card in this position could speak to someone feeling good, victorious, and confident in their current endeavors. You literally feel like the sun is shining on you. You feel as if nothing could go wrong, and you are finally reaping the benefits of getting through a rough patch. And when this card comes out, this is exactly how you should feel. You are receiving your wish fulfillments because you did not give up in the tunnel; you kept moving towards the light. And what do you get for your hard work? Health, wealth, fortune, and an overall feeling of achievement. If you don’t feel that energy quite yet when you pull this card, do not fret. That just means it’s right around the corner. If you are/relocating, you could be going somewhere with a warmer climate.
Future: The battle is almost over and the cycles are closing out. Soon, you will see why certain sacrifices were necessary and you will feel victorious. This is the energy of being lost in the woods; you're tired and losing hope of ever making it out. But, right as you are about to give up, you hear cars moving swiftly down the street and the sounds of excitable conversation. You made it! Allow the familiar sound of civilization to bring you back to life the same way we allow the sun to heal us every day.
Reversed
*Disclaimer: Reading tarot cards in reverse is totally up to the reader. There are many who choose not to. There is no right way to do it; go with your intuition. For some readers, a reverse means that the energy of that card cannot manifest into reality due to a block. So if you are someone who chooses to not read reversed cards you may skip this part, however if you are that reader, keep reading!
Remember to always be authentic with your spiritual practices.*
There are no negative effects to the Sun card, so there are little changes when it comes out reversed. However, you could expect your manifestations and clarity to come in a little slower. And this is not to punish you by dragging things out. There need to be slight changes to how you are approaching your journey. There are some things you are doing which are counterproductive to your growth. Here is when you can embody the energy of the Hanged Man card and try to see things from a different perspective.
Advice
The Sun card could give a few words of advice. One of them is learning to appreciate what you already have. In the past, present, or future energy, you had some type of wish fulfillment in your life. No matter how small or big, because that does not matter, you had what you once manifested and wished for. So, no matter where you are in your journey, appreciate all the beauty around you; appreciate life (the sun). Take more time to celebrate yourself and others. Make sure you are showing gratitude.
Another word of advice is to get your priorities in order. Which area of your life are you going to shine a light on this week or month? Remember that the sun is shining in one place and completely invisible in another.
