When you think of the Temperance card, think of alchemy‒ the belief that you can transform metals such as copper or lead into silver or gold. The Temperance cards speak to our ability to manipulate certain aspects of our lives to bring greater benefit. This is like losing your job of five years but instead of feeling rejected, you see it as an opportunity to find a new and more fulfilling job. However, it usually takes some time before you begin to see the upside in that situation,which brings up a term I know you are familiar with: ivine timing.
Divine timing is a concept many struggle with wrapping their head around because it requires true surrendering to Spirit. We have to trust that whatever needs to happen for the greater good and will happen when it is best and not put our own time constraints on it.
If Temperance comes out in your reading, it is best to embody the feminine attributes being portrayed in that card: harmony, balance, and cooperation. You see from the drawing she is pouring water from one cup to another with no spilling. She works with the two cups to create the perfect system. This is how you should approach your problems and concerns.
Upright
Past: You could have been more cautious and reserved to make certain moves or decisions in the past. There is a sense of taking notes and speaking later. This is like creating a rough draft before the finale. Some people see rough drafts as a waste of time but I believe many of us have found that a final draft always comes out better when we take the time to sketch it out first. So, do not wonder if you have wasted time or missed your opportunity; you were just taking some much-needed time to access. This is also the energy of getting your life together after a rough patch or putting the pieces together to create the perfect puzzle.
Present: You are being encouraged to slow down and trust the process. You could be wanting answers or an exact plan for something in your life, and because you don’t have that, you begin to doubt. Try to remember that as humans there are many things that we cannot know all at once and we must do what we can with what we have. You are being called to surrender and release your need for control. Matters in your life are being handled on divine timing, and you only cause yourself more stress by trying to put a time frame on that.
Future: You will begin to notice how matters in your life are slowing down, allowing you time to recuperate and rest. You could have been keeping yourself busy in hopes of not dealing with a problem. You could also need to be more intentional with your actions and words going forward. The lifestyle that you want‒are you actually doing what is necessary to get it? The Temperance card also speaks to the duality of attracting what you want versus going after what you want. Remember that both are equally important.

The Temperance card reversed symbolizes imbalance in your life. You could be having a hard time balancing the spiritual and practical aspects of life, which are leaving you drained and confused. This energy leads to stalling in your life, which is why you might also feel like nothing is changing and everything is staying the same. You could be feeling moody and temperamental during this time.
In order to get the wheels moving again, you have to figure out how you can cooperate with Spirit to get the life you want. What is your role? How can you show up? And then do just that but only that! Do not try to do your role and Spirit’s.
Advice
At this time, do not do anything hasty as it might come back to bite you. If you need confirmation or reassurance that you are moving in the right direction, ask your guides for signs and synchronicities. This is also a good time to really study the synchronicities that you are being sent. Like yes, it is amazing that you are seeing 444 all the time but what does it mean for you specifically? I find that remembering what I was thinking about or doing when I see the synchronicity helps bring me clarity.
Simply put, you are being advised to find your power and voice within a situation. Don’t let up. Stay committed to your path even during the obstacles. Stay the course, release control, and have faith.
