Card of the Week: Page of Wands

“Good fortune is what happens when opportunity meets with planning.” - Thomas Edison

The Page of Wands usually depicts a younger person facing sideways with a long staff in hand. Due to the page being younger, they usually are wearing shorts or a dress like- garment. If you notice, the hat that the Page of Wands wears has a small feather at the top while the Knight of Wands has almost a bundle of hair coming from his helmet; this, again, is showing the differences in rank between the two, which in our modern times, shows experience. The Page of Wands' background is very similar to that of the Knight of Wands because there aren’t many differences between the two.

Unlike the knight, who is moving towards something or someone, the page is standing still and waiting for something to come to him. The page is just as prepared and excited for whatever is to come his way, but it’s almost like he can’t leave his post like the knight can. I like to see it as a younger sibling who is not old enough to go out on their own so people have to come to them, while the older sibling can leave the house and come back with a little more freedom. Of course with freedom comes a little more responsibility and expectations.

The Page of Wands represents the energy of someone who is still planning and almost daydreaming about future actions to take. Once you begin to embark on those actions, you bump yourself up to a Knight of Wands. Terms I would use to describe the Page of Wands are limitless potential, free spirit, passion, breakthrough, and anticipation.

Upright

Past: The Page of Wands in the past can represent someone who was optimistic and enthusiastic about messages and people coming into their life. However, as I mentioned earlier, the page does not really do too much movement and actions on its own. Therefore, in the past you could have been doing a lot of brainstorming and planning for the future. This can also represent someone who might have been a little more hesitant to say or do something.

Present: If you pull the Page of Wands for your current energy, then life is looking up for you. You could be expecting an exciting message or invitation soon. For example, if you recently applied for a job and you pull this card, expect to hear some good news back.

You might also be in the middle of a spiritual breakthrough that is going to land you exactly where you need to be. You might also be planning a vacation or adventure to somewhere you’ve never been; this card has a very fresh energy to it so whatever you are about to do, trust you have not done it before. Lastly, you could be starting on an art or philosophical project that you are really excited about.

Future: In the future you can expect more ideas and inspiration to fall onto your lap. Maybe at this time you don’t really feel inspired to start new projects or a new job and you’re waiting for that burst of excitement; it’s coming. At this time, just make sure you are clearing the way for new and fresh things to enter your life. Also, if you have been waiting on some confirmation or message from someone, you can expect that to come in. Whatever comes into your life after you pull this card in the future position is meant to help direct and plant you exactly where you need to be, even if it does not seem like it at the time. Think redirection.

Reversed

*Disclaimer: Reading tarot cards in reverse is totally up to the reader. There are many who choose not to. There is no right way to do it; go with your intuition. For some readers a reversed means that the energy of that card cannot manifest into reality due to a block. So if you are someone who chooses to not read reversed cards you may skip this part, however if you are that reader, keep reading!

Remember to always be authentic with your spiritual practices.*

The Page of Wands reversed can represent some unhappy news that might cause you to have to move some things around or an expected delay could be on the horizon. If you are asking about a particular person or message you recently encountered, Spirit is warning that you don’t give this too much of your energy because the information can be false or the person can be untrustworthy. At this time, just stay on your toes and know that everything is not what it appears to be.

Advice

Page of Wands in the advice position could call for you to fall back on a particular person or situation and wait for some important information to come in. You could be a little impulsive and reactionary at this time, which is only driving you into a mental or physical tizzy. As I said earlier, the page represents someone who is not quite ready to leave their post because they're still planning and brainstorming. Make sure that before you commit to something or say something, you have thought it through completely.
