Card of the Week: Judgement
“The true awakening takes place within.” - Unknown

This week we are going over the Judgement card. Now, this card can cause stress for some people as many do connect this to Christianity and their version of God; this is the day where God comes back and judges the actions and dictates the consequences of humans. Some people see the winged figure as Egyptian goddess Maat, who weighs the souls of people against her Feather of Truth (Alexander and Shannon 119). However you view it, the overall message is there is a wake-up call showing up in your life; you are awakening and seeing things for exactly what they are. The rose-colored glasses are coming off and you will have to make a decision as to how you choose to move forward.
Upright
Past: You recently had an awakening and closed out a cycle. This cycle was more than likely a set of beliefs or ideals you based your life on that no longer apply. This energy comes when you have gone through a transformation/ascension process and is a sign that you are actually making progress. Also, something could have come to light and shifted your perspective on the matter.
Now you are prepared to move in a new direction with your new ideals and beliefs. Try to remember this card should not be feared, but appreciated. You are being shown that hard work does pay off. During this process, you have probably learned the importance of surrendering, and letting go of things should be easier to do moving forward.
Present: Imagine yourself at an intersection with four different roads to choose from, including the one you’re already on. Are you going to stay on that same road and try to see if anything changes or are you going to take that leap and choose the unknown? If the Judgement card comes out in this position, you are being asked to reevaluate how you are approaching life or a specific situation thus far. This card is not to chastise you, but to let you know there is room to change. If your life has been feeling a little hectic, this is a sign that things will begin to settle and the dust will clear.
Some important information can also be given to you at this time. It’s important that you do something with this information and not just allow it to collect dust in your mind.
This is also a good time to ask yourself if you are actually happy with how you are approaching life or if you are just going through the motions. Again, look at this card as a major wake up call.
Future: You will soon be called to look back and assess your life up until the present moment. You might have to decide who stays and who goes in your life. At the current moment you could feel very heavy with little to no motivation, but you can expect to feel emboldened and alive very soon. There are things in your life that are causing you to feel so confined. Once you cut them off you will feel relief from that deadweight.
Reversed
*Disclaimer: Reading tarot cards in reverse is totally up to the reader. There are many who choose not to. There is no right way to do it; go with your intuition. For some readers, a reverse means that the energy of that card cannot manifest into reality due to a block. So if you are someone who chooses to not read reversed cards you may skip this part, however if you are that reader, keep reading!
Remember to always be authentic with your spiritual practices.*
There might be some delays that you are experiencing causing you to feel discouraged and possibly agitated. At this time, you are being guided to switch up your perspective. Rome was not built in a day; you must have patience with yourself and the universe. These delays could also be coming up because you are resisting change and growth; you don’t want to let go of someone or something, which is only leaving you in this stagnant energy. There may be a need to cope better with life’s unforeseen changes when this card shows up reversed.
Advice
The Judgement card in this position is advising you to invest your energy into new endeavors and leave the past in the past. Unknowingly, you could still be leaving your energy with people or things you no longer align with; time to cut that off.
At this time ask yourself, “Are you following your calling?” This card is advising you to stop floating through life thinking that you are not leaving a mark and impression. Become aware of your personal power and use it for the good of all. Simply put: stop playing with yourself and potential and cut off whatever is contributing to you doing that.
